I arrived at Arena’s just before sound check….
Which is perfect timing if you ask me.
So after sound check, it was time to sit back and relax a little.
Jason, acting a little goofy.
John’s family came out to support him.
Break time is over, and it’s time for some music.
They play in the back of the restaurant area….
But that doesn’t seem to bother John….
But that doesn’t seem to bother John….
T was just doing his own thing….
And Sonny didn’t mind that a bit.
Scrow was there to run the sound for the show.
Outside, the lovely ladies were happy to have great music to listen to while at the beach.
And back inside, G-13 continued to provide the great music.
Brad wanted to do this dorky dueling camers photo. I guess I’m a dork too for participating.
There was a game of darts in the corner….
Plenty of people packed into the bar….
And even some video game action.
Some people just hung around outside listening to the music spill over.
Check out the eight ball beach cruiser she has….
The tire itself kicks ass.
Some people were messing around in the alley, so we went to make sure everything was OK in the van.
It was John’s birthday, so Brad went on a mission to get a candle for the cake.
Three blocks away, we found this store….
Some of the lovely G-Girls.
And some candles.
A quick jog back to the bar, and Brad had the cake ready….
And John was stoked.
I can understand them wanting to drink and smoke, but must they sit so close to each other?
This is the self-proclaimed “Sonny Fan Club”.
After hearing about trouble in the alley, Skip and John went to check things out.
T was already there, and gave the “everything is OK” sign.
OK guys, break time is over, go play us some music.
T, stop hitting on Kelli and get up on stage.
Ah, much better.
The bar was well packed by this point….
And Skip was happy to sing to them all.
The rhythm section joined right in.
No hiding, Sonny.
Greg “Mando” Deeds, President of www.gearboxx.com, joined in on the mandolin.
His sound blended in with G-13’s perfectly.
Saturday’s Show is some band called TBA.
He kinda looks like he needs his dentures in this one.
It was getting late, but the bar was still packed.
Scrow joined the show….
And then the last note was played.
Jason makes it fast with one more thing….
We are the Sultans…..We are the Sultans of Swing.
After that, it was time to packup and go.
The process is pretty simple….
And takes about 15-20 minutes.
Greg showing Kelli the mark left in his wallet from carrying a condom in it…..
Then pretends to be playing the mandolin when I get closer.
Here’s a familiar site, John and Sonny loading the trailer.
T didn’t want the night to end.
Hey look, the trailer magically loaded itself!!!!
It’s actually a guitar, he’s just 10′ 6″ tall.
The discussion was, “Where is the after party?”
After some discussion, and a short drive….
It was decided that we would hang out at John’s.
Star Trek?????
Thank you for the candid smile.
You know, I never ask John to use his bass when he’s on stage.
Kelli says goodbye to everyone as they left….
And John put on some mood music.
Kelli and I tried to drive home, but we were tired so we slept in a McDonald’s parking lot for a few hours.
The next morning, she drove the final 70 minutes home.
After a rest that day, we headed over to Michael’s Pub in Columbia, MD for some more G-13.
Ben was there to man the merchandise.
And the band was there to play us music.
We got there late, so we only caught a few songs before Scrow went up for the set break.
John’s family is coming on the tour circuit.
What would you do with a drunken sailor?
You can definitely see that they are brothers.
Scarecrow, that man is a coffee addict.
With the band coming back on, it was back to the soundboard for him.
Brad got a bottle stuck in his mouth, and couldn’t get it out.
I like the colors in this shot.
John sang me a love song….
And Jason just played along.
The set list for the first set.
T was DJing that night, so Sonny was the solo percussionist.
Ben took a minute to make sure the lighting was in tune with the music….
And we checked on the Van.
Coffee is a diuretic.
The G-13 merchandisers worked the crowd….
Then Scarecrow worked the women.
Skip finds the groove….
And John followed along.
Jason did his own little thing.
Playing drums make you hot and sweaty.
SOCIAL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
After that, Sonny helped himself to a refill.
Shows over, time to pack up.
Hey look, it’s Sonny and John loading the trailer again.
Kelli helped out….
Then we all said goodbye…….for now.
